Liquid Sky 2026: Contemporary Art Exhibition at the Galata Museo del Mare

Type: Exhibition

Date: From 14 to 20 June 2026

Hour:

From 14 to 20 June 2026, the Galata Museo del Mare will host Liquid Sky, a contemporary art exhibition now in its fourth edition, curated by Benedetta Spagnuolo and organised by ARTISTI ITALIANI

Staged in the museum’s Exhibition Gallery, the show presents an immersive journey through around seventy works, including painting, photography, sculpture, installation, collage, graphic art, illustration and video art, created by Italian and international artists.

A Dialogue Between Sea and Sky: The Theme of Liquid Sky

Liquid Sky was conceived as a curatorial project designed to engage with Genoa’s maritime identity and the unique spaces of the museum. At the heart of the exhibition lies water, a universal and symbolic element, interpreted as a point of connection between sea and sky.

The exhibition develops a visual and conceptual reflection on water as a metaphor for the unconscious, transformation and inner journeys. The works on display convey this complexity through a variety of artistic languages, offering visitors an experience that blends aesthetics, introspection and storytelling.

A Curatorial Project Between Art and Introspection

The concept of the exhibition is also inspired by the thought of Carl Gustav Jung, who identified water as a symbol of the unconscious and the depths of the human psyche. From this perspective, the artworks become archetypal images capable of sparking both personal and collective reflection.

Liquid Sky is therefore more than an exhibition; it is an experience—an invitation to observe, interpret and be immersed in the visual and symbolic power of contemporary art.

Visiting Liquid Sky means entering into a dialogue between contemporary art and maritime culture, within one of the most iconic museums in Genoa.

It is a unique opportunity to discover new artists, explore the language of contemporary art, and experience the museum from a different perspective, where historical heritage meets contemporary artistic research.
