Teaching activities and schools

Our educational activities

Reconstructions and stagings so you can “climb aboard” and experience the history of the relationship between Genoa and the sea firsthand.
The tour of the museum is a journey in the history of navigation from the Middle Ages to the modern day, passing through four fundamental eras of seafaring: the age of the oar, experienced on galleys; the age of the sail, dominated by the ship of the line; the age of steam, with its steamboats full of immigrants; and the age of large merchant ships and contemporary migrations.
The MEM Memory and Migrations section tells the story of Italian emigration in the Americas at the beginning of the 1900s as well as contemporary migration to Italy.
The Open Air Museum, with historic cranes and machines to move cargo, is reminiscent of how the dockyard of Genoa used to be; the Nazario Sauro S-518 submarine, moored at sea, allows visitors to experience up close the living conditions of the crew aboard a submarine. Are you ready to guide your crew towards an unforgettable adventure? Climb aboard!

The activities take place by appointment from Tuesday to Saturday at 9:30, 11:30 and 14:30.
On Mondays on request and there is a minimum of 15 participants and a maximum of 25. Groups of less than 15 can be arranged for kindergartens and kindergartens.
From 1 September to 28 February: at the end of the activity you can visit the rest of the museum independently at no extra cost.
