The Galata Open Air Museum is the result of a plan of urbanistic recovery of the entire area of the harbour docks, begun in the years Nineties inside of the Ancient Port of Genoa. Thanks to the historical recovery of the area of the Ancient Dock, the urban fabric has resumed life, after years of neglect: the berthing is granted to sailing schools, fishermen or vintage boats passing through Genoa.
As a result of this renovation, the Darsena fish market is born, where local fishermen every morning sell directly fished at zero km. Following the example of the great international maritime museums, the Galata has created on its docks an open-air museum, which tells the story and life of the docks that insisted on these areas.
