Arts – Nomadisms – Languages
From 3 July to 6 September 2026, Galata Museo del Mare will host the seventh edition of Le Latitudini dell’Arte, the international biennial dedicated to the dialogue between contemporary art, European cultures and contemporary visual languages.
Founded in 2013, the Biennale has established itself over the years as a significant platform for exchange between Italy and some of Europe’s leading cultural scenes. Following editions dedicated to Finland, Hungary, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland, the 2026 edition celebrates the artistic dialogue between France and Italy.
Curated by Virginia Monteverde, with a critical introduction by Viana Conti, the exhibition brings together twenty Italian and French artists in an exhibition path exploring the theme Arts – Nomadisms – Languages.
A journey through identity, experimentation and freedom
The exhibition draws inspiration from the thought of Gilles Deleuze, one of the most influential French philosophers of the twentieth century, who viewed artistic creation as an act of experimentation capable of moving beyond conventions, boundaries and fixed ways of seeing.
Within this perspective, nomadism is not simply understood as geographical movement, but as a cultural and critical attitude: the ability of art to move freely across disciplines, identities and languages, resisting rigid definitions.
Visitors are invited to become “nomads” themselves, travelling through works, visions and suggestions unfolding between the two shores of the Mediterranean in a continuous dialogue between different artistic sensibilities.
