Lighthouses of Wonder

Type: Exhibition

Date: From 17 to 24 July 2025

A unique photographic journey through light, sea, and memory

From 17 to 24 July 2025, the Galata Museo del Mare presents Fari delle MeraviglieLighthouses of Wonder, a captivating photographic exhibition by Walter Pescara, celebrating the timeless allure of Italian lighthouses.

The exhibition features a curated selection of approximately 30 artistic photographs taken in the 1980s, each printed on authentic fragments of vintage nautical sails, making every piece a one-of-a-kind work of art.

The lighthouses depicted—scattered along Italy’s coastline—become symbols of guidance, solitude, and resilience, evoking stories of the sea and the lives shaped by it.

The images are drawn from The Book of Italian Lighthouses, first published in 1985 in collaboration with the Italian Navy, and now brought back to life in an immersive and emotionally powerful installation.

Lighthouses of Wonder has already been hosted in several prestigious venues, including the Punta Lingua Lighthouse (Salina), the Cannon Gallery in Livorno, the Aragonese Castle of Taranto, and the private residence of architect Daniel Libeskind in Milan.
