Genova and the Lanterna
Type: Exhibition
Date: From September 18 to October 19, 2025
A visual journey around Genova’s most iconic symbol — discovering the city from new perspectives.
From 18 September to 19 October 2025, Galata Museo del Mare presents Genova and the Lanterna, a photography exhibition by Angelo Zammarrelli, dedicated to Italy’s most famous lighthouse and the urban landscape that surrounds it.
The project originated from a photographic investigation conducted between 2016 and 2018, marked by a meditative and methodical gaze.
Often overused in the city’s visual imagery, the Lanterna is reinterpreted here through a fresh perspective: no longer just a postcard monument, but a quiet, everyday presence, woven into the emotional and visual fabric of Genoa.
Curated by Andrea Botto, the exhibition unfolds through previously unseen photographs and subtle details, offering a slow, contemplative urban narrative, rich in obsessions, repetitions, and echoes.
No special effects — just an invitation to look closely, to reweave connections between memory and image, space and time.
