On the Waves in Search of Freedom

From 7 to 29 August 2025, the Galata Museo del Mare in Genoa presents  Sulle onde in cerca della libertà – On the Waves in Search of Freedom – an artistic and poetic journey exploring the profound bond between humanity and the sea.

The exhibition, curated by Luciano Caprile, presents 13 striking sculptures carved from Italian marble and Zimbabwean granite by artist Louise Durocher, arranged as an immersive installation within the museum’s Exhibition Gallery.

This powerful artistic project offers a rich visual experience that speaks to the movement of life – fluid, shifting, and unpredictable – like the sea itself. It invites reflection on who we are, where we come from, and the dreams that guide us across visible and invisible borders.

During the inauguration, the exhibition will be open to all visitors free of charge. From 8 to 29 August, Sulle onde in cerca della libertà – On the Waves in Search of Freedom will be open daily in the Exhibition Gallery, included with the museum admission ticket.
