Land and Sea
Type: Exhibition
Date: From July 3 to October 18, 2025
From July 3 to October 18, 2025, the Galata Museo del Mare presents Land and Sea, a retrospective dedicated to Adriano Leverone (1953–2022), one of Italy’s foremost contemporary ceramists, sculptors, and designers.
Spanning multiple exhibition spaces, this show guides visitors through some 30 stoneware sculptures—some featuring rotating elements—alongside two bronze works, a large-scale monumental panel, and two armored figures from the “Authority” series.
Covering the years 1990 to 2010, Leverone’s work explores the interplay between earth and sea—symbolic, complementary forces—expressed through alternating ochre and blue tones. The result is a striking balance between opposites: warm and cool, ice and fire, stability and motion.
A devoted researcher and educator, Leverone taught at institutions in Italy and abroad, took part in numerous symposia, and led terracotta‐making projects in Ethiopia and Brazil. His works now reside in public and private collections across Italy, Europe, and the United States.
Useful Information:
• Opening: July 3 at 6:00 PM (free admission)
