Shipowners’ Hall
Inaugurated in 2017, the Shipowners’ Hall was born from a close collaboration between the Mu.MA Institution and the Promoters’ Association, which for years together have invested resources to enhance the maritime heritage. The preparation renders justice to one between the marine professions less considered, in how much operating often “behind the scenes”: the Shipowner, in fact. The Shipowners Room combines innovation, multimedia, interactivity and unique scenography, describing the economic and human events of the main shipowning families that were based in Genoa in ‘900. Stories of ships, men and traffics, are told on picomonitor-touch with the help of models of ships and large projections, divided into 7 sections: The port of Genoa, The trades, the State and the Owners, The Crews, The Craft, Innovation. All in the frame of the deck of a steamboat, with its large funnel, the wheelhouse, the room of the radiotelegraphist, the original deckhouse of the yacht of the emperor of Austria.
